What Happens During a Professional Spray Project?
Share
Having your kitchen, fitted cabinetry or furniture professionally sprayed may feel like a major project, but the process is carefully planned to keep everything simple and minimise disruption within your home.
From the first quotation to the final reassembly, every stage has a purpose. Here is what you can expect when working with West London Spraying Co.
Your Initial Estimate or Home Quotation
The first step is understanding what you would like to transform.
You can complete our online form and upload photographs to receive an initial estimate within 24 hours. You can also arrange a free home visit if you would prefer us to inspect the project and provide a quotation in person.
We assess the size of the project, the existing materials, the condition of the surfaces and any additional work required. This could include repairing damage, removing peeling vinyl, changing handles, upgrading hinges or correcting doors that have moved out of alignment.
Once everything has been considered, you will receive a clear quotation based on your project.
Booking Your Project
A 10% deposit secures your booking and confirms your project start date. We begin projects on Mondays wherever possible, allowing us to dedicate the working week to completing each transformation carefully.
After booking, you will receive our Kitchen Transformation Guide. This explains how to prepare for our arrival, what to expect throughout the project and how to care for your new finish once the work is complete.
Choosing Your Colour
You can select up to four colours that you would like to experience within your own home.
We prepare and post your selected colour samples alongside our Home Colour Experience guide. This allows you to view each colour in your kitchen throughout the day and see how it responds to morning light, cloudy conditions, evening light and your kitchen lighting.
Your final colour choice should be confirmed at least seven working days before the project begins.
This gives you time to make a confident decision rather than choosing from a small colour card or relying on how a shade appears on a screen.
Preparing Your Home
When we arrive, we begin by protecting the surrounding areas and creating a controlled working space.
Floors, worktops, appliances, walls and adjoining surfaces are carefully masked and covered. Professional extraction and ventilation help us manage the working environment while the spraying takes place.
Doors, drawer fronts, handles and other removable pieces are taken off and organised carefully so that everything can be returned to its correct position.
Most projects are completed on site. If there is not enough suitable space at the property, we can take removable pieces to our spray room and complete the fixed cabinetry within the home.
Restoring the Existing Surfaces
Preparation is one of the most important stages of a professional respray.
Each surface is assessed and prepared according to its material and condition. We work with solid wood, MDF, laminate, melamine, gloss, vinyl and previously painted surfaces.
Water damage, swelling, chips, dents, deep scratches, cracks, split joints and heavily worn edges can be restored before spraying. Peeling vinyl can be removed to reveal the MDF underneath, which is then repaired and prepared for its new finish.
If you have chosen new handles with different fixing positions, we can fill the existing holes and create new ones. Doors and drawers that sit unevenly can also be adjusted, and existing hinges can be upgraded to soft close hinges.
The aim is not simply to cover the existing surface with paint. It is to repair and refine the cabinetry first so that the new finish has the best possible foundation.
Applying the Sprayed Finish
Once preparation is complete, the coating is applied in controlled, even layers.
Professional spraying creates a beautifully smooth and consistent surface without the visible brush strokes, roller texture or overlapping marks associated with hand painting.
We use premium, low VOC coatings with a Class 1 scrub rating. They are designed for high traffic areas such as kitchens and offer excellent durability, scratch resistance and lasting colour vibrancy.
The coating is allowed to dry correctly between stages so that every section receives a consistent finish.
Reassembly and Final Details
Once the sprayed surfaces are ready, doors, drawer fronts, handles and other removable pieces are carefully refitted.
We check the positioning of doors and drawers, adjust their alignment and make sure the finished kitchen looks balanced. New handles or soft close hinges are installed where these have been included within the project.
All masking and protective materials are then removed, revealing the completed transformation.
Using Your Newly Sprayed Kitchen
Your new finish can be carefully used after approximately 24 to 48 hours, although the coating will continue to cure and strengthen after we leave.
During this period, the cabinetry should be treated gently. Avoid harsh cleaning products, excessive moisture or placing unnecessary pressure on the newly sprayed surfaces.
Your Kitchen Transformation Guide will explain how to care for the finish and help keep it looking its best.
How Long Does a Professional Respray Take?
Most kitchen transformations are completed within approximately three to five days, depending on the size, condition and level of work involved.
Larger kitchens, extensive restoration or projects that include cabinet interiors and additional fitted furniture may take longer. Your expected project duration will be confirmed before work begins.
Compared with removing and replacing an entire kitchen, professional spraying creates far less waste, disruption and time without leaving you waiting weeks for a completed room.
After Your Project Is Complete
Once the transformation has been completed, you will receive your final invoice. The remaining balance is due within 48 hours of completion.
Your project is also protected by our two year workmanship guarantee, giving you confidence in the quality of the work carried out.
